I saw this little idea some time ago and wasn't in the position to create an animated puzzle. However, I recently was able to do so and here is my contribution:
You know those puzzles you may have played with as a child, where a scene is in a square holder and the pieces are divided into various squares with one square missing. You then move the squares about until the puzzle is scrambled and then attempt to unscramble the puzzle. For some reason those used to intrigue me and I would spend long amounts of time trying to unscramble them. Thanks to computers, unscrambling them is easy. At least in the case of this animation. This animation was developed in Synfig Studio and then finished in Gimp GAP.
I have included the Synfig sifz file for anyone interested in seeing how that part was done.
