Thanks for trying the tutorial molly. You have always been able to complete my animation tutorials successfully and then adapt them to create your own interesting works.

:)

Ccbarr, You make your tutorials so easy to follow it is a real joy to do them.
I hope sometime you will make that animated card into a Gap tute. I would like to do the regular one again but I really get lost in all the steps.

Thanks again for sharing your great tutorials. :bigthup

I don't know why it is jumpy, and God knows i tried several frames number
that's the best i could come up with.Would it have anything to do with adding pics?
Also, when i play it on Gimp it scrolls normal but on my pic viewer it is slow.
I hope it will be fine when i upload, let's see
And ccbarr, You are great :)

pirate541,

Thanks for your kind words. It's always nice to see people trying out some of the animation tutorials. Thank you for trying out that one.

That is a very nice and colorful scrolling Thanksgiving message.

Regarding the skipping, it looks like the message is scrolling right to left, but also top to bottom. The skipping appears to be due to the top to bottom scrolling. The left to right scrolling looks reasonably smooth. I would recommend trying a larger "window" to have everything scroll in so you can avoid the top to bottom scrolling and have just right to left scrolling.

If you want to post the XCF image file with all of your parts, I can try to look at it.

I'm about t log off here, so I will hopefully be able to check back sometime this week.

Thank you again for trying out the tutorial.

:)

I used this tutorial for a project today. A friend of mine wanted something like this for a forum post and the online generator he was using created it as a video. Unfortunately, the forum does not allow html codes nor does it have a [Frame] BBcode, so I made him a gif.

I made my frame a little thinner and gave it a curved appearance by using the plugin Script-Fu>Layer Effects>Inner Shadow with the shadow color being a medium gray so it would show up nicely on the black then merged it down to the frame. Since he was wanting an LCD marquee look, I cut my text out of a black background so that the rainbow blend would show through.

It was a lot of trial and error on the two X frame points but I finally got the black to flow together seemlessly. I Kept the Y setting at "0".

This was fun. Thanks for sharing the tutorial. It was really easy to use!

Phydeaux, that is very nice. The rainbow gradient effect is especially impressive.

I know this is a somewhat older thread, but wanted to see how to do this. However, the link is to the site gimptalk which seems to be offline (tried a couple of times the last month). Could you put the tutorial here (on gimpchat)?

Thanks
E

Sorry fredep57. Gimp talk has been down for a long time and I thought that I had that scrolling text saved as a pdf but I guess not.
Maybe ccbarr will be able to repost it here.

Sorry, the link is no longer available.

For all of You Gimpers,
I am sorry that I haven't been able to really show my gratitude for being a part of the Gimp community, but I am rarely online due to work slavery.
I am hoping this Year will bring You all ,all the happiness and joys you wish for.
