I assume GIFs count as animation. This is my first ever.

Interesting. It plays back at a much higher rate than it did when I checked it before uploading. The faster frame rate actually looks better.

:coolthup Good work! I'd submit that in the Ello gif contest if it were mine.

I'll do that. Do you have a link?

Thanks to everyone for the kudos. I guess that means this trick is worthy of a tutorial.

They don't have one going on at the moment, but they always host them at

I'll check twitter to see if anything is upcoming.

Ello said that there are upcoming contests, so they will be keeping me posted. So get yourself an Ello account and start posting those GIFs. :)

I think, technically, I need to make at least one more before I have a "those" to post. That requires an idea. I'm fresh out of ideas at the moment. But I am working on the tutorial for this. Hope to have it posted by lunch tomorrow. :) Then everyone can make sparks.

Uh-oh. I just had an idea for a gif. I'll have to experiment tomorrow.

I found this GIF both amusing and kind of endearing.

cool animation..... can't wait til you learn/install blender.

I myself find gimp animated gif's harder to make than using blender animation. I forgot to mention that blender is several programs within blender. like a video editor, sound editor .... etc

I'll be working on that today.

I just joined ello and posted this GIF. Not sure how to enter it in any contests that come up. But it's kind of cool just to have it out there.

How's this look?
I used the plug-in Figured Glass on each duplicated text layer.
Exported as .gif file.
The font used is called,
Radio1875_Bold.ttf.

I like that. It has a sort of fluidity about it.
