I believe there is a problem with Gimp's WebP animation output. It's a hit or miss when upload to FireFox and it reports errors when imported into ffmpeg.

Now, if I exported and encode with ffmpeg to webp, no such errors occur. Not sure why??

PixLab found a different error with webp relating to size of image.

Maybe flatten the frames before exporting but that should not make any difference. PixLab's error was fixed in 2.10.34 but I saw somewhere this version has other bugs.

I would use ffmpeg to encode if you couldn't be bothered filing a bug report.
