Very nice, "E"risian. I detect a big influence of the Draconian tutorials there :)

It is either a harp or a xylophone instrument invented for the Tchaikovsky, 1812 Overture.

this is so cool! i was thinking instrument too. some sort of electrified folk instrument is my guess - a weird celtic folk/electro band use this on their public performances. no idea what it sounds like though!
first i thought the indicator lights were too realistic for the stylised look of the rest of the instrument, but the more i look at it, the more i think that contrast is what really makes it so cool.

Wow - I wasn't expecting this response. Draconian tutorials - yes. Other than that it's an E for Erisian and it was loosely based on the work I did on my guitar image ( http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4963 ). Other than that I just made it up as I went along. Thank you all for the comments.

Thanks Barbie. I didn't know you could have transparency in a GIF. I've changed it for your version now. Thanks again. :ffy

you are a bit on fire at the moment :bigthup

did you make it the size it is now or worked on a bigger scale ?
im asking because you have those jagged edges
im wondering if its better to work on a bigger picture and resize it when its finished
my media-designer mate says he does it all the time

also, whats it with DPI ?
as far as i know a monitor has 72dpi, do you get a better result when you use a higher dpi in terms of jagged edges ?

DPI on your screen really doesn't matter. It's useful when you're scanning, printing or using the clip board. There's an excellent web site that's been around for years called Scanning Basics 101 that has some great information.

The display in my 17" Laptop is 1920x1200 120 DPI. :)
Some of the new Retina displays on smart phones etc are in 300-400 DPI range.
Maybe an old CRT screen is limited to 72 DPI.

Much better now for me and some others Erisian. And better for those that have black themes.
This is why I have posts colored.
So that I can easily distinguish if an image has a transparent background and how it appears with the transparent background. (And also to cut the glare).
I think you all should have some kind of "other than white" background coloring in posts for that reason.
Maybe GnuTux could make the background of this site a little offwhite. #dddddd or #eeeeee.

This is what I see now.

Thank you everyone. Esper, I think I was working on 600x600 at 1200 dpi on the original but shrank it for posting. (It was cropped as well of course)

I like it. It's very futuristic looking, like something on a lapel in Star Trek. :borg

Thanks Tux. I think it looks futuristic but bolted together in somebody's garage.
