Same here Lyle. I would like to see Partha compile it in 64 bit though. :)

Never seen a 64-bit version of Inkscape; that would be cool Rod. :)

64-bit Inkscape 048.4 is available on Partha's site since Oct, 2013.

I have it but don't use it, because the pen tool seems to be lagging (not good).
Besides, some tools are missing - measurement tool and something else i dont remember now.

Had no idea K1Te; based on your observations, I guess I should stick with 32-bit Inkscape then. :)

One of the raster effect filters Rod.
I have this filter in 0.91 beta version which I installed > 6 months ago.
According to Inkscape wiki Felt Feather was released in 2011, although I don't remember having it in 0.48.

I knew beta 0-91 - pre4 64 bit was released but i was waiting for the stable 0-91 version. I do not remember that filter being in 48 either.Their are some nice new additions to this version though. Seems much faster at rendering. The bevel filters seem much better to me also.

Just installed the release .91. It does render raster effects faster (like significantly so; I wonder if it's taking advantage of the gpu or not). I like it since it's 64-bit now too. I've not uninstalled .48.5 yet; will do so once I know there's no caveats. Updated Shellout too and all's well. :)

Have not and not really currently in the mood yet to check all the updated toys in this new build Rod. Just happy that it's now native 64-bit. :)

I would like to see the finished font project when you are done creating it. :)

Trace pixel art needs a very small image to start.
Looks kind of funny. I must be doing something wrong.

Sounds nifty. I don't work with vectors yet, but it sounds like something to look forward too.

I'm curious though, what's the difference between 32bit and 64bit versions? Is it performance related?

Performance, yes, but it concerns mainly big files with hundreds of paths that
are handled better by 64-bit version, especially when applying raster effects.
As a result - fewer crashes.
Other than that 32-bit is as good as 64.

Yes 64 bit is faster.

I believe that's how pixel vector conversion works Rod. It breaks down the image into smaller blocks then vecorizes those blocks. Not exactly what I would like to do w.r.t. vector converstion.

Anyway, I also just realized that I cannot un-install my 32-bit version of Inskscape since it's used for the Traveling salesman renders and I don't want to trouble-shoot that process yet again. lol

0.4x 32-bit and 0.9x 64-bit are happily co-existing so going just be happy with them as is. :)
