ImageImageI have a raster image LOGO that I desperately need to convert to a vector graphic. I loaded the PNG into Inkscape, went to Path/Trace and really cleaned up the image except for the stars and the letters. Can someone help me with this or simply fixit for me? I would be forever grateful. I have someone waiting for this but it has to be scalable.

Try this one, remember to un-zip it.

Yes but I get the message that GIMP won't support svg so I saved the SVG image as another PNG in order to post it so you could see the comparrison before and after, and the effects of the trace. I can zip it and attach it. Let me check out the svg rich uploaded.

OK, Rich the image you posted looks fine. I'll forward it to my guy and see if it will work for him? Was it created in Inkscape or another program?

I pulled the svg into Inkscape and now I get a lot of gray trash on the ram's head and the wreath when I enlarge it. It appears to be artifacts left over from the trace. Perhaps we can combine elements of yours and mine and come up with a clear, crisp image that will scale properly. the stars and lettering are sharp now. Your thoughts?

Put the .svg file into a zip folder and post it.

It may be a size/file weight issue.

Uploads are limited to 5242880 bytes or 5.24288 megabytes.

Is the file to large?

Beats me...
7zip doesn't work for me either?

Try another type of compressed file type.

All paths.
Just fill in the paths with any color.
Also scales well.

ho hum, different time zones - another day

The gray trash of course is shading from the original bitmap image. Easy to get rid of by editing the bitmap. When it comes to the bit-map your image is a poor starting point, first thing I do is scale x2 and then it depends how much tidy-up is possible or worth while. Comes a point when it might be easier to redraw the whole thing.

However, a black on transparent vector -attached - exported as a png looks like this.

The wreath and head are rendered individually using autotrace so these are groups in inkscape. Easy enough to delete and replace with your own. The text and stars are straight inkscape. The text is converted to paths for bending, so not editable as text.

edit: I read in one of the other posts that you can not open a svg in Gimp. That should not be correct. Unless, are you using OSX or maybe one of the Gimp 2.9.5 dev versions? Everything I use opens svg.
