As Mint 20.2 seems to be based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, I suggest simply to install the .deb package for Ubuntu 20.04 :

https://www.fosshub.com/GMIC.html?dwl=g ... _amd64.deb

It should work.

I use this version for Ubunto 20.04 Focal in my Linux Mint 20.2 and it works perfectly fine in my PPA version of Gimp 2.10.30.

gmic_3.0.0_gimp2.10_ubuntu20-04_focal_amd64.zip

@nixnine

Since it is Gimp 2.10.28 and Mint20, Gimp might also be a flatpak installation. In which case install the dedicated flatpak version.
