It is worth remembering that gmic constantly evolves. samj 2.10.11 used an older gmic_gimp 2.5.7 while samj 2.10.12 uses 2.6.6
Between those versions there was a change in the way gmic interprets the commands, which is why
wild cartooniser gives that error. It was never updated.
All those 'testing' filters are in a big script file
updatexxx.gmic which matches the gmic version. Normally when you install gmic_gimp it has 312 filters and updates to 520. It downloads all of the testing section.
I am no expert in gmic syntax but I guessed a small change to line 61915 was required.
from
-unsharp $3,$4,0[1] to
-unsharp[1] $3,$4,0Which is why you need to replace it with the zipped version
The samj gmic_gimp_qt is a bit strange. I do not know if it is possible to upgrade gmic_gimp to a newer version. Maybe one of the regular users can give advice.

If I put the installable version on C, will I be able to continue using old portable versions that are on D?
Yes, I have that setup on my Win10 (VM)
