Dear all,
For those using the G'MIC plug-in (or interested by the project), James Prichard has given a talk on G'MIC at the LGM'2013 event in Madrid / Spain yesterday. We have been able to record the streaming video for this particular talk (thanks Patrick David!), and put it on youtube. This is a quite informative talk that gives some insights on the G'MIC project, hope you'll like it.

Thanks again James for your kind participation.

Just finished watching this presentation and enjoyed it. Worth the watch if you can spare a few minutes. Very cool overview of my favorite tool. :)

That's really nice. I watched the whole video. It gives insight into what it has taken to get G'MIC working and all of the work behind it. Thanks for sharing, David.

The 20-min slot in the auditorium was geared to a slideshow. LGM also run afternoon workshops of 2hrs which would have enabled demonstrating the command-line, the gimp plug-in and showcasing some of the interesting effects filters that many users have written. I think the kind support from several existing expert users is a big attraction for people that might want to have a go themselves. Many of you reside on GimpChat's forum as well as watching the specific flickr/g+ channels.

You are absolutely right James. Now I really start to think there could be enough stuffs to say about G'MIC to fill a 2hr(even 3hr!) workshop covering all the different aspects of the project : presenting the different interfaces (CLI,plug-in,web,Zart,C++ library...), doing a tutorial on how the scripting language work, which features it has (and it has a lot actually :)), how integrating new filters in the plug-in works and so on.. Looks like there are plenty of stuffs to present.
I think that maybe I'll propose something like this for the next edition.

And, oh, Thank again James (I'll never say it enough) for your talk.
The story is : I had planed to go to Madrid, but unfortunately, I had a (almost) last-minute impediment. James has agreed to change his vacation plans to go there to present the G'MIC project to the audience, with slides I've prepared. Imagine how a difficult exercise it can be to present another's project with the slides done by the main project developer, in front of a large audience (James told me there was probably 100 persons in the room). James, what you did is really awesome ! Kudos to you ! I'm always amazed by the power of the open source spirit floating around there :cheers

I agree; kind of cool to actually have a face and voice to the people that actually have helped make G'MIC what it is now. You don't get a pass next time though David, so I want to see you in the video next time. ;)

:)
