So I Download that link you gave me and put it in my Plugins folder?

It is a setup file - run the setup.exe and it will ask you where you want to install it - install where i said before.
The filter will show up in Filters menu.Usually at the bottom.You have to have a layer created to access it.

Are you running windows?

no problem - there is a link in the GMIC dialog looks like a refresh icon.You can refresh your filters at anytime if you are connected to the internet.
If you click on about it will tell you if a update is available.Just download the new update and install it the same way.
PC created some real cool filters and presets for this plug-in.I believe Lyle created one for stippling?

To answer your question, Rod. No, just adding the new preset to an older file doesn't always work. I wish it would. Sometimes the presets just don't show up. It's almost like you have to manually create your presets all over again, in order to get them to work.

I put in my .gmic file and it worked, but my .gmic_faves does nothing no matter what I do with it. I haven't added anything to my .gmic file to see if it suddenly doesn't see it. The faves not showing up is very disappointing.

Someone mind giving me the link to 64 bit version for Windows... I can't find it, and one of my friends is rather interested in this.

David just released 1.4.9.1 and it seems to be a great improvement on previews.

yes and a change for layer mode that broke some option in my filters
it was a change for the better anyway (a option to revert positions of layers to be merged) and update the filters should not take long

I just downloaded 1.4.9.1 a few minutes ago but haven't played with it much yet Mahvin. Do hope you are right about the previews since I pretty much ignore them right now and make a mind's eye guess as to how the outcome will be based on previous experience. lol

As for your presets PC; hope you update them soon. It's cool that now G'MIC allows you to control your own presets for sharing.

what may be a bit harder is update the presets , luckily i was a bit lazy to do before, so i avoided to have to do twice

well going to download the new gmic till now...i really miss a 64bit version i may use with gimp 2.7.

1.4.9.1 is working nicely for me.

That is so strange because any preset i place in my faves file shows in my Faves list.
G'MIC 1.4.9.1 is working great for me also.

The preset should show anyway (from last version) if are serious problem with one or more preset you should see a error message where should be the filter command, when you call the preset

I just cannot get it happening on my version of GIMP...I've tried about everything I can think of, short of deleting everything GIMP related and doing a fresh install of GIMP and starting from scratch. I really do not know what else to do.

Akky: You don't need to delete GIMP to get G'MIC working. You would be better off taking your G'MIC issues to the Flicker G'MIC discussion group and post your issues there.

You'll need to provide your Mac version, explain what you have done so far, etc. There are several Mac users in the group who are more versed in installing G'MIC for Macs. You stand a better chance of getting help there, than here.

Again installing plugin script or what else , in the best way, is absolutly the same for linux Win and Mac

Because there no any need to know where are the gimp folders, but only to know that the Gimp Preferences are in the EDIT menu

Then you create new folder i.e. a folder for gmic, where you like you enter in preferences , look for "folder" and add a its path

This also solve many problem to install plugin as Gmic that contain more then a single file to install, have similar plugins in their own folder make easier to update them and avoid possible conflict.

I mean may even be speciphic problem on MAC is hard to know there are so much different gimp versions for mac, and different version of mac, but be sure to have installed right help to solve
