To be honest, David should implement the hack into the original version, it just does a better job. As far as I can compare.

well unchecking "equalize" the merging at 100% opacity may be too strong , but the opacity slider is there to allow to fade , it is possible fade till 0% ,where there is no more difference with the result of the original filter

And there is also in the merging mode dropdown list "skip merging" that again offer the same result of the original filter

Got the parrot picture here, and the jungle picture here.

Changed the color of the parrot to a more teal hue.

When I use both your and David's integrated filter, your filter just breaks up the mosaic tiles better. Don't ask me why, it just does. I could provide you with a two picture comparison if necessary.

Example using same settings on Windows 7 machine:

Image

I'm beginning to think this is a Windows 7 problem. I don't have any of the problems on my Linux machines. Only on my office machine, which has Win 7 64 bit. I'm constantly swapping between computers to see if both systems do the same thing, so I don't think I'm crazy.

On the Vista laptop, G'MIC works fine. On my standalone Linux machine with Ubuntu, also 32 bit, it runs fine.

All my filter problems are on the 64 bit Windows machine.

I am having entirely too much fun playing with this filter.

Got the gothic window here, and the Madonna here

I used plasma for the background. The plasma is the only thing I used the stained glass filter on.

I like the way this came out.

That looks very stunning, O. Have you ever made any real stained glass pictures?

Thank you, mahvin. No, I've never done stained glass. I'd probably hurt myself. LOL

AFAIK gmic does not have a plasma filter.

Do I hear a faint echo of macabre laughter? mwahahahahahahahaha

Will PhotoComix don his lab coat?
Will we be hearing the bubbling of test tubes and the sparking of shorting wires?
Will PhotoComix do his inexorable codes?

Stay tuned members, I think we are in for something new.

Now gmic has something vaguely close to a plasma filter called "turbolence"
but here the mistery if i run the stained glass filter on that turbolence i got a stunning result:
a perfectly black image :gaah ...always ...doesn't matter "turbolence"colors shapes nor the setting used result is solid black...

So maybe i must bring my win 7 laptop to a good exorcist and continue the experiment on my other PC...

I was going to add - will Igor help? :lol

PC i would love to see you, or David fit GMIC with a

"Plasmatic FrankenSeed Filter" <--- Note cool name for filter

On a side note - I would like to see a few controls like ohhh

FrankenSeed - 1 through 1000 seedlings
FrankenGradient - current FGxBG color or choice plus flip horizontal or vertical
FrankenRotator - rotate Plasma colors - degree settings -0 up to +360 degrees
FrankenGlow - light directional settings - left, right, up, down, center-burst settings
FrankenLines - thickness setting for lines between glass pieces - with free select tool choice settings
FrankenPreset - plus add your own save preset setting

Note the pun on Frankenstein with the word "Frankenlines" :rofl

Not too much i am sure for a Dr. of your caliber.
Igor will help! :)

Add some noise after you run turbulence, you'll be amazed with the result.

Ran turbulence on G'MIC.

Added RGB Noise: 20
Ran Stained Glass filter set at Edges 64
Shading = .05
Rest defaults.
Ran Value Propagate to increase thicking of black lines, then duplicated the layer and bump mapped.

Mahvin, what a cool effect!

This one I ran MathMap > Blur > Mosaic and enlarged the tiles a little then did the stained glass filter on it. Gives a little different style of pattern. I put the window over it just to show what it looks like.

Mahvin - Looks like a nice stone path to the Gingerbread house. :)

O - You are getting real good at this! I am thinking you missed your true calling instead of babysitting us
you should be creating masterpieces in glass. :paint

Mahvin that is really cool !

Actually i am a little worried, we are from a few hours in war against Libia and Italy is the only country that Gheddafi may strike back, and he even has pretty good rational and emotional reasons to do it, because is from here that all attack will be launched and because he was really betrayed by his best friend Silvio Berlusconi (that is also our prime minister)

but ok i will try to don't loose focus...problem is that Silvio Berlusconi residence is at less then 20KM from here and Lybian rockets are well know for the offsetting...

Like the raised tile look Mahvin. Mine's just an experiment with a blend of G'MIC's Local Orientation and G'MIC's Painting presets applied to PC's Stained Glass preset result (used Plasma2 filter prior). Like others already mentioned, I too like your updated hack better then the original PC. Hope you don't get bombed by the madman. :)
