Appreciate the comments. The woodblock cutout stencil rendering technique is one of my favorites. I use to use Mehdi's Fine Threshold filter, but now I can use G'MIC; one less PS filter needed now. :)

Very nice! I might have to use that technique on one of my maps.

David rewrote the filter
########################################
#@gimp B&W stamp : gimp_stamp, gimp_stamp_preview(0)
#@gimp : Threshold = int(50,0,100)
#@gimp : Smoothness = float(0,0,10)
#@gimp : Sharpening = float(0,0,30)
#@gimp : sep = separator(), Preview type = choice("Full","Forward horizontal","Forward vertical","Backward horizontal","Backward vertical")
#@gimp : sep = separator(), note = note("Author : Antaron, Mahvin. Latest update : 2011/03/26.")
gimp_stamp :
-norm -t $1% -blur $2,0 -sharpen $3 -n 0,255
-apply_curve 1,0,0,101,33,170,229,255,255
-to_rgb

gimp_stamp_preview :
-gimp_split_preview "-gimp_stamp ${1--2}",$-1

i have the weirdest problem with David version , what is weird is what does in the filter list if added to the .gmic file...somebody else noticed something strange ?
BTW i didn't installed yet last version of gmic...this time i prefer wait to see the effect on guinea pig...

PC; your a chicken. Braak braak braak braak. lol

Yeah; I even had some strange behavior with 1.4.9 before weirdly doing a few things which got it to work again. Not sure what mad scientist additions David has added that caused the situation. :)

I agree there are some very weird things going on in G'MIC 1.4.9. All my other .gmic filters i added are slipped in between other menus. :lol . What's up with that?

David decided to alphabetized all the presets. Some may like; others not. I had a huge confusion at first which led to finding a bug that David, this morning, fixed. Haven't tried the update since I stubbled upon a wacky way to fix the issue, but I may try the 1.4.9 update sometime later. :)

I installed 1.4.9 earlier today, and just now i refreshed and only had 247 filters.
So i reinstalled 1.4.8

Rod, there are actually only 247 filters. David explains this on Flickr:

Quote:
Ronounours says:

Exactly, Karo you are absolutely right.
There has always been less than 250 filters, but when doing an update, the counter was displaying the double, because all 'Initial' filters were still available with the updated ones. Now, when an update is found, the initial default filters are just discarded (of course, you can reset the filters to their initial state, just by removing the '.gmic_def.xxxx' file).

I admit I've done quite dramatic changes in the way the filter updates are managed. This is also why there might be some problems remaining. Please apologize for any inconvenience due to these new changes (but I believe we have a lot to gain from having more filter sources in the future).

Oh okay thanks for sharing that Mahvin.
I thought for sure all my filters vanished :lol

So does this mean 1.4.9 is okay to use then?

Hi.
Yes, the 1.4.9.0 final version has just been released today.
Should be stable enough to be of use.

Hm. Is Linux 1.4.9.0 still the same one?

Yes, both Linux and Windows versions have been updated from '1.4.9.0_testing' to '1.4.9.0' (aka final).

Checking out the updated Linux version (I had 1.4.9.0 before and it worked fine) after backing up the old one.
