You should be able to just click the filters refresh button in G'MIC now to get the new filters (which appear under testing > photocomix > enhancement), if it's not showing after a refresh you might need to empty out your .gmic file if you tried adding it manually before.

Thanks GC. hey PC; anyway possible to add a keep aspect ratio option (only then need a single slider)? Have to play with post sharpening feature, but I did get good results using wavelet sharpening plugin afterwars. No aliasing to boot. Good work. :)

Lylejk there are alread 2 options to preserve image ratio, one "set up Width" is even the default:
So as default you may just set up the new Width, and the filter will ignore what is in the "New Height "field and compute it autoatically

in the dropdown list only the first option require to put both W and H, the second that is the default require only W (and will ignore "New Height)
and the last option will only consider the New Height and compute automatically the W

Alas there is no way to toggle off the controls not used, so i can not make more intuitive, but "Respect image ratio, set New Width" should be clear

About interface what you prefer the more complete interface, (screenshot 1)
or that more simplified?

...i believe that, except for who known well the functions of the various controls of gmic unsharpmask the more simple is also the best because should give a good balance between "dark halo" and "white halo" sharpening

Thanks PC; didn't know that. I guess this applies to all G'MIC presets that allow width and height change. Learn something new every day. :)

Weird.
I deleted the .gmic file i created with PC's code and i still have an entry in the faves area, and two in the PhotoComix area of my GMIC menus. :)
And it won't let me delete the faves entry like my other fave presets.

Thank to Garagecoder the update is online.

First i moved the filter in the right place in the "Testing" menu

Image

then i added optional controls for pre-blur :

"Automatic" compute automatically the best amount of blur, according to the theory,( obviously if chosen disable the Blur_x and blur_y sliders )

Anyway for my work-flow (scaling down from about 4800X 3600 to 2400X1800 or more seldom 1600X1200 ) i prefer much lower values of that theoretically correct that in my opinion good results only if the optional post sharpening is done
But without post sharpening tend to a soft focus effect ( that may be nice but is not what i wish)

For my taste and work-flow, i prefer disable "Automatic" and use values for pre-blur from 1 to 1.5 ....exceptionally 2 for the most aliased or noisy images
so i added the 2 "Blur_X" and " Blur_Y" sliders.

i repost the screenshot :

Image

Then i simplified controls for the optional post sharpening , the default should give good result in most of case or anyway be a good starting point

I dumped my .gmic file and updated G'MIC and the filter is available.

One thing I'd like and it's not crucial but when I choose preserve_image_ratio Set new Width or Height, it would be nice to see the other measurement update to what it will be:

Like when I set new Width to 500, I'd like to see that the Height changed to 600 or whatever the preserved ratio makes it.

Very cool, PhotoComix. :yes

I would like too but as far i know Gmic doesn't support it

Edit

do you prefer the new or the previous interface ?
