I've done a quick video tutorial to show how to render nice logos with the packed sprites filter of the G'MIC plug-in for GIMP.
Here is the final result :

Actually, I had to cut the video where the filter is making my CPU burn, to make it shorter :)

Really nice, Hadn't realised you could run the filter on more than 1 layer.

Ronounours, I tried using the plugin, but the images inside the logos were very small and sparse. Could you explain to us how to make the logos to be fully completed? The original images should be approximately the same size? It is necessary to cut the layer? You need to do layer to image size? We can put as many layers as we want before running the plugin or is there a limit?

@conbagui, the guru of text tutorials

I've a lot of difficulties in following video-tutorial; could you - if you like and David agrees - transform David's tut into a step by step text tut as any one of yours?

thanks!

GnuTux, as you can see, several gimpers are having difficulty following your tutorial. I think whoever has the job of developing fine filters should try to explain the use of it. I know it's a load. But you're more sure that it will be used and admired. The filter is excellent and it can not be underutilized.

Hi Carlos, the link http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=7498 explains well how to use the filter.
In some cases the use of Spacing value may be negative (-1), to avoid the problem of sparse results

Carlos,
have a look also at the Conbagui's tutorial, same topic
Very likely you (as I did) can follow his step by step tutorial in an easier way
