You know, I love you folks. Really. GIMP and G'MIC are incredible gifts and I appreciate them greatly. You all work incredibly hard and you deserve big credit.
But this thread is such a perfect example of why I can't recommend open source software to most of my friends.
Like the overwhelming majority of computer users, I use Windows (my clients insist, and they are the people who pay me) and I run in 64 bit mode. Put yourself in my position and read this thread. What am I supposed to do, and what should I download? Most people could not make heads or tails of this thread.
I visited the G'MIC page on sourceforge this morning and downloaded the "64 bits only" version which turned out to be 1.5. I do wish that page specified what version you are downloading.
Eventually I tried updating filters from within GIMP and used the link provided under "about" to download a compiled Win-64 version. I extracted the files to the usual place, opened GIMP, and was told I am missing one of those blasted dll files ("libgomp-1.dll"). Now, as people say so often, my GIMP is broken.
Please remind me, where do I find a current libgomp-1.dll and in what directory should I install it?
Thanks. It's a good thing you folks are patient and kind. Otherwise, the rest of us common users wouldn't stand a chance.
