Most users actually don't have a .gmic file.

Custom Filters
GMIC scripts can be refreshed from the internet without upgrading the plugin, there is a special file name 'gmic' with no dot or extension which if it exists will be loaded on refresh, this can be used to save your personal scripts; can use the Various / Custom and save your edited version as a 'favourite' bookmark but that might get changed or deleted more easily.


I moved ~/.gmic to ~/.config/gmic/gmic
but It is not loaded.
There is a way to insert custom filters file(s) in ~/.config/gmic/gmic?

Strange my version says 1.6.5.3 pre release.
Works excellent though. The vector paint filter is excellent as well.

Should have reported this already, but I'm getting this error on several of the G'MIC presets. The filter will still run; just a corruption in the preview.

Would it be possible to reproduce this error with the "Output messages -> Debug (logfile)" option enabled, and copy/paste the log file somewhere ?
The logfile should be %APPDATA%/gmic/gimp_log on Windows.

I do not find any more my defined filters.
The gmic file if inserted into (user)/AppData/Roaming will be overwritten by a folder with the same name containing gimp_update.lock and gimp_update1652.gmic and my gmic file disappears.
If I add again the file (inside the folder gmic) no personal filter shows up
If I put the file directly under AppData, still no filter
Where should I put it?

dinasset : On Windows, the user-defined filter file is not called 'gmic' anymore, but 'user.gmic', and you have to put it in (user)/AppData/Roaming.

experimenting with G'MIC 3d image object (cube)
using option "flat shaded" I get a crash
*** Error in ./gimp_animate_imageobject3d/animate/*if/(...)/*local/gimp_render3d/*repeat/*local/ *** Command '-mul3d': Invalid 3d object [0], in selected image(null) (CImg3d has invalid dimensions (3,1,1,1)).

I take this opportunity also to ask you:
- whether "dot" option could be somehow visible in the animation (size of dots?)
- whether "wireframe" could be better visible in the animation (size of lines?)

I downloaded what looked to be the latest G'MIC a couple days ago....installed it and it is the 1.6.6.0 pre release. It didn't have the version on the download and I didn't see this one either.

@sallyanne : Yes, I've started the work for next (major) release 1.6.6.0. As it is already quite stable, I propose it as a pre-version for download by default.

I can't get the Gimp plugin to install.

What is your OS? Any error messages?

@dinasset : should be fixed, but only for the very latest pre-release 1.6.6.0_pre. Maybe you can try to upgrade your plug-in binary from http://gmic.eu/gimp.shtml, and tell me ?
