Should I uninstall the older version of GIMP before installing the newest one? I am pretty new to using it and with software of this type. This forum seems very helpful so far, so I registered an account.

Hi Rocque and welcome to Gimp Chat.

As for your inquire regarding uninstalling a previous version of G'MIC.

I'm a windows 10 64bit user and I do not uninstall the old version,
when installing a new version of G"MIC.

However,
uninstalling the old version then installing the latest version of G'MIC will also work.
One reason you might wish to uninstall the old version.
Would be if it was not functioning.

PClinuxOS - Gimp 2.8.16 - G'mic 1.7.3 linux 32 bit

What has happened to the interactive color curves?

I can see Curves moved to Testing -> Ronounours and while lots of sliders are fine, can't beat a curve to drag around.

Does anyone know how my faves file doesn't appear to exist, yet I have faves in Gmic. I have been searching as I wanted to backup faves before inserting the new Gmic.

Yay, thank you for the info! I had several of the 'update info's and wanted to get rid of them, and your instructions worked like a charm.

Now if I can just get some spare time and update my McGimp and G'Mic! I don't want to do it until I have a whole free day because I just know I'll have issues that will take time to figure out.

Use The Power of Positive Thinking 2-ton.
If that doesn't work,
use The Force

Found my faves file in .config under gimp_faves. I get gmic I think from the ppa that updates gimp so that probably explains it.
