could you check whether this filter is working on the last update?
I get these messages when trying to "close" the operations (escape)

Maybe it's just me, thus I would like to know whether you are still able to use it, thanks.

I get the same error messages if I leave the output at its default setting. If I select new layers for the output, the error messages don't appear.
Curiously, if I have selected new layers for the output, and then repeat foreground extraction with default output layer there are no error messages.
However, in all cases the output image appears satisfactory.

I don't know if this information is of any help!

I don't get this error here, using GIMP 2.8 on Linux.
Are you using GIMP 2.9 ? From which source did you download the plug-in ?

are you saying that you DO NOT NEED TO SET OUTPUT AS NEW LAYER(S) to get it running w/o errors?
I use Gimp 2.8.18 on Windows 64bits and G'MIC 1.7.8 downloaded as usual from gmic.eu

Yes, it works with the default parameters out of the box for me.
I'm running GIMP 2.8.16, on Ubuntu Linux 16/04.

Please Gimp-Chatters, could you try that G'MIC filter and tell us whether:
- you do not get errors when running with default (specify OS used)
- you get errors when running with default and not when setting output=new layer(s) (specify OS used)

so far, the two users which tried it (the other David and Rod) got my same errors (and solved the problem setting the output to new)

No errors in both cases. It both worked correct for me.

Running GIMP 2.8.18, gmic 1.7.8 64 bit Win 10 and I get the same errors unless I select new layer(s)

I did another test.

Now I had the same error as you all.

The difference is that I now pushed the Apply button!

With the OK button I don't get the error.

(Don't forget to Reset filter before new test.)

Double-checked, Iarga: correct what you say.
At this point:
- either David adjusts the "Apply" to work as the "OK"
- or in the instructions removes the suggestion to use either ones and recommends only the OK to start
just to avoid misunderstandnis.

Ahhhh, now I get the error too

OK, so I've done some minor modifications in the plug-in code, and I believe this should be enough to fix this issue.
