...Anyway, I understand you want sometimes to use '-gimp_' commands, when there are no easy equivalent as non '-gimp_...' commands. In that case, it's probably good to copy/paste the definition of the used '-gimp_..' command into a new named command (let say '-dinasset_...' for instance), and store all these used commands in a .gmic file that would be included during the G'MIC pipeline (with command '-command').
This would ensure you keep your own version of the '-gimp_...' command you are using.

May I "revert" your suggestion so that:
- when there is a need to change a gimp_... command the old version is copied into an official "backstage" thesaurus of commands always included, as you say, when gmic is loaded.
This is not "dinasset" specific, but a requirement fo any script coder who wants (likes) to use G'MIC inside a new gimp filter.
By saving the old command into this new and available for everybody set of previous commands, all filters can be easily amended when necessary by the author(s).

I guess that sometimes it would be much simpler to have as a preprocessing phase of the gimp-gmic interface an "equivalences" table, where the old command is auto-replaced by the new one;
this would reduce impacts when:
- the old command will never be used again (that's the case of anisotropic_smoothing..., I suppose)
- the parameters remain the same (again as for anisotropic_smoothing...)

No that's not possible dinasset. That means *each time* I had to update a G'MIC filter for GIMP, I would have to change the name, and keep the old command somewhere for compatibility reasons. I'm updating the filter really often, so it means that after, let say 2 or 3 months, the number of old commands to keep would be maybe the same as the number of actual visible filters. And this, only to keep the compatibility of external scripts (the updated filters are available for anyone to use, so no loss of features).
I cannot afford that, just because it would take a large amount of memory, for very few profit.

Thanks Dinasset. I still have the previous version as the newest one doesn't get to update for me. I'll try it again today.

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.
