samj shared her environment with David and that made a huge (like steroids) impact on G'MIC's GIMP plugin. On some of the older presets that I use, they are now at least 10 times faster (and I'm not exaggerating). :)

Error in opening the zip file - not the first time the inability to unzip the file gmic_win32.zip 21-Feb-2017 14:55 10M.
What could be the reason for repeated error in the packed file just 32bit?
(file for 32bit is almost two times smaller than 64bit).

Should be fixed MareroQ.
I don't know the reason though, but what I can say is that from time to time, the packaging scripts are not working properly on Windows, without any reasons.
This OS really drives me crazy sometimes, you cannot imagine the amount of time I've already lost dealing with Windows-specific problems. It's insane.

Got it and it seems fine so far, although ~

I just used one from the Testing section

[viz. Testing - Naggobot - Vector field rotation demo]

Applied it to 'All visibles' (I had 12 layers selected), but instead of applying the filter to all 12 of them, 11 disappeared and only the first layer was left (with changes), it's the first time I've used that particular filter so not sure if this always happened or not - anyone got any ideas on that?

Anyway thanks to the G'MIC people - great work!

How do I install the latest version?
I downloaded the zip, unzipped it. Inside were 2 files, a readme and a gmic_gimp2 file. I put the gmic_gimp2 file in my plugins folder, startup gimp but only the old version shows up in the menu.

Linux G'mic is just a single file. Check list:

Did you download the correct flavour 32 or 64 bit.

The contents of the zip should have executable already set but check anyway.

You have the plugin in the correct folder ~/.config/GIMP/2.9/plug-ins

All being well, both plugins co-exist and show as screenshot of my Gimp 2.9.5 Kubuntu 16.04.

What version of linux do you use?

Hi,
Linux G'mic is just a single file. Check list:

Did you download the correct flavour 32 or 64 bit. YES 32bit

The contents of the zip should have executable already set but check anyway. YES

You have the plugin in the correct folder ~/.config/GIMP/2.9/plug-ins YES

On the link page given in first post I downloaded the 5th file down the list
gmic_gimp_linux32.zip
I am using Arch linux, I am thinking maybe I have to download the source and compile it.

Have to confess, I compile my own gmic-gimp2 (64 bit) but against ubuntu dev files.

You might indeed have to compile it for yourself, still a little strange that the earlier version works but not the latest version. It is most proabley connected to your Arch linux but gimp plugins are usually very forgiving and often work on different versions of linux.

You could try this 32 bit version from an ubuntu ppa - attached (remember to unzip it)

Is there an Arch forum where you can ask about compiling?

Thanks, I tried that ubuntu one but it also doesn't seem to be noticed by gimp.
I had started to compile it but it takes so long on this laptop that I stopped it to do other things. I will try doing it again later tonight and if it doesn't work I will go look on arch forum.
