Released new 'minor' version (2.0.2) today!
Note: we stop supporting the GTK plug-in, and focus on the Qt-version., so be sure to switch to the Qt version as soon as possible :)

Updating my compiled-for-Gimp-2.9.5 plugins and all works ok. including this message ;)

Quote:
rich@rich-VB:~/gmic/src$ make gimp_gtk
**
** Warning: The GTK-based interface of the G'MIC plug-in for GIMP is now obsolete, please compile the Qt-based interface instead!

Which I had already done. QT http://i.imgur.com/rBpzxUJ.jpg GTK http://i.imgur.com/CiEOt3b.jpg

As a matter of preference, I still like the GTK version, with my particular computer theme, it is that little bit 'neater' for want of a better word.

A note about older machines. My netbook, a venerable Acer C720, 32 bit Ubuntu 'trusty' and E19 DE runs Gimp 2.8.22 but no way that it runs the QT gmic_gimp. I should update it, but I love that E19 Bodhi, it is there until the machine dies.

Yes, you are right, the Qt-plugin does not compile on my older Debian-7 too. I'll try keeping the GTK version working as long as I can, but I cannot ensure I'll be able to do that if some major changes are introduced in the way the plug-in works in the future.

Thanks for all your tests !

GIMP 2.8.22
Windows 10 64bit
GMIC QT Win64 2.0.2

Throws this error on loading.

Quote:
gmic_gimp_qt.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point pthread_setname_np could not be located in the dynamic link library
C:\users\sonoftime\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\libglib-2.0-0.dll.

Which also prevents script-fu.exe from loading, with the exact same error.

Don't know if this problem is on your end or mine, but figured I'd bring it up.

I do not have this problem with GMIC QTK Win64 2.0.0.

Win 7 64 bit is working quite well. The preview seems crisper. I just miss the 'reset' button.

Just in case you got this error trying to install it using the .exe version.
Try instead with the .zip version, which allows you to link on a self-contained folder.

Thanks for the update to this great plugin manager! The QT-version works great in my 64-bit Linux Mint Cinnamon. I also noticed the preview screen looks better. Would be great to have the screen larger though.

Thanks for that tip, I was wondering why I was missing filters.

Use the zip version BUT first DELETE contents of the previous QT-GMIC folder overwriting will not work. That is if you used a zip before. IF you used an executable be sure to uninstall the older version before unzipping the newer 2.02 version.
My directory tree
USER/Rod/gimp-2.8/plug-ins/GMIC Qt/unzipped files. Then start GIMP and point Edit>Pref>Folders/Plug-ins to the GMIC Qt folder. Restart GIMP and it should be under Filters menu.

Screenshot of G'MIC - 2.02. =) Windows 10 64 bit.

Thanks for the update David!

Rod,
when you unzip a .zip version likely you get a folder with the same name of the .zip file.
If you look into that folder you discover it contains another folder with the specification of the release.
By using this latter you avoid duplications and you do not need to remove previously downloaded/unzipped folder, having different names, so that you can point in Gimp preferences directly and only to the release you last downloaded.
Example:
I downloaded the file gmic_gimp_qt_win64.zip
After unzipping I got the folder gmic_gimp_qt_win64
By looking into it I found the folder gmic-gimp-qt-2.0.2-win64

I used that last one to move to Gimp user folder.

Thanks Lyle!

Now if I could get the "New Layer(s)" and "Output Messages" to stay where I set them.

dinasset & Rod,

Swapping to the .zip version solved the issue.

Thanks.

That's precisely one of the features the Qt plug-in has ! It remembers those settings for each filter.
Just set them for one filter, and when you go back later to the same filter, they will be the same.
I think it's even better than before (that was global perstistence).

Thank you so much for your awesome work.
I was first shocked that it broke my dark customized theme, but then saw under the settings it has dark theme option.

@ rich2005, thanks for the resize handles tips. I never even noticed them before. I also just now realized that I can use full-screen on the GUI. That makes a world of difference....
