All - recently updated GIMP to 2.99.12 and the GMIC plugin no longer appears on the Filter menu. I'm using the Flatpak for 2.99.12 (which was updated when I updated my distribution from 20.04 to 22.04). GIMP works fine, it's just getting GMIC to show up. I confirm that GMIC-QT is installed and runs fine as a standalone app. But no matter what I do, the gmic_gimp_qt plugin that gets installed in /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/gmic_gimp_qt is not recognized by GIMP 2.99.12 on load. In fact, even with --verbose output starting GIMP from a terminal there is no output of any kind that appears to touch it -- no reading plugin, no error on attempting to read the plugin. It's as if it's not there. I've copied the files from /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins to multiple locations (e.g., ~/.config/GIMP/2.99/Plug-ins/) attempting to get GIMP to at least see it and then hopefully toss an error of some kind, but nothing doing. I've installed both the gmic_ubuntu22.04_jammy_amd64.deb and the gmic_3.1.6_ubuntu22-04_jammy_amd64.deb packages downloaded from GMIC directly. I've installed the flatpak v.3.0 of GMIC. Nothing doing. NOTE: GIMP 2.10.12 works just fine and GMIC appears on the Filters menu. Just not GIMP 2.99.12. Any help is appreciated.

Did the GMIC plugin for 2.10 ever worked with 2.99? AFAIK the plugin interface is somewhat different in 2.99 (especially since 2.99.12 IIRC where plugins must tell if they support multiple layer selection).

I had a look at this just a short time ago. There are a couple of things.

The Gimp flatpak because it is sandboxed uses a bespoke flatpak gimp_gmic_qt flatpak plugin, not the regular plugin. While there is one for Gimp 2.10.x there is no flatpak gmic for Gimp 2.99
-----------------
Want to use Gimp 2.10.32 in kubuntu 22.04 (I have just installed this in my old computer) **and** have python support for all those python plugins ? Get Gimp from the Panda Jim PPA and this appimage launcher

https://github.com/TasMania17/Gimp-Appi ... -for-Linux

...and.. a 50 second animation of how it works https://i.imgur.com/fWY3ezt.mp4 First a normal launch then using the appimage

Gmic works fine with the Panda Jim Gimp.

Has anyone been able to compile a version of G'MIC_GIMP_Qt for Gimp-2.99? I do have an environment setup for Gimp-2.10.32 G'MIC cli, qt , gimp_qt, and zart but i'd have to compile Gimp-2.99 latest dev src and then compile gmic_gimp_qt for it to work i think.
Any thoughts?
