GIMP Version: 2.8.2
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: win 7 64
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level
URL or Image link: http://i.imgur.com/L762I.jpg

List any relevant plug-ins or scripts:
G'mic 1.5.2.0
Mathmap 1.7

After i installed mathmap from one of k1tes posts G'mic wouldn't run so i reinstalled it and then mathmap would run, hoping there is a easy fix that i'm missing
Thanks

your system is 64 bit but your gimp ?

Supposing is 64 bit then you should install gmic normally and install MM (exe and dll) in the "32" folder
(that will avoid conflict in case of dll with same name but compiled for 32 instead then 64 bit ..if not some would be overwritten )

and the Mathmap folder (that with the "expression" just go in your gimp user directory

As now i am fighting with sourceforge login to update my 64 bit version of gimp that has both preinstalled, if you enconter problems and if you don't dislike portable versions simplify that may be the easier way
(may be more simple start with a version that already include everything and just delete what you don't need )

ok i go back to sourceforge to try to recover my pw

i just saw your PM, and i updated Gimp_PC_Lab 64 bit (with last gmic and few other updates )

About your question (i hope you don't mind if i report here):

Quote:
the only reason i don't use it as my default is i'm so used to having my tools and everything on the right side, is there a way to set it up like my 2.8.2 - see http://i.imgur.com/IccFJ.png -

that should be really simple:
1 start gimp
2 Windows menu: UNcheck single window
3 arrange the floating windows in the position you like
4 again Windows/single window
now the position should be rearranged according to where you placed the floating windows
5 Edit/Preferences/windows management (not just "windows ) : save windows position now

Done !

as i said i prepared a folder (Not_Installed_Ready )for each addon category (brush, script , plugin etc )as storage for temporary deactivated items,...

and in case you want do not temporarily you may just delete
(but i suggest to move there first so in the rare cases of dependency problems as scripts that you use often but that require some plugin (brush or gradient or what-else ) you will never use you may fix quickly
whatever you move there will be NOT loaded at start up

I too have Win 7 , GIMP 2.8.2 - 64-bit all. The MM files I've attached in that post are from my GIMP folder. Needless to say, both MM and GMIC work flawlessly. The only explanation for this behavior is that you might have copied MathMap in 'plugins' folder instead of /.gimp-2.8/mathmap.

There were 2 folders in your zip, MM and plugins. I moved the MM into 2.8 and copied the contents of the plugins to the plugins folder, MM works but G'mic won't run, reinstall G'mic and MM won't run

If you use gimp 64bit you should avoid to mix 64 and 32bit plugin in the same folder

If not is anyway better place filter as GMIC and MM each in its own folder and link the folders from preferences ,this minimize the risk of conflicting , or "not found", dll

In more simple words

"Put in a plugin folder" works fine for filters that consist of 1 single ".exe" file
Doesn't work very well for filters that include more files as in case of both gmic and MM

Put each in its own dedicated folder !
so each will easy found and load its own (and only its own) dll and files and will not conflict with the other

PS and for sure there is a mess in your plugin folder

As example what are doing there mathmap.png or gmic_in_script.scm?

Even if both should not cause errors are clear signs of a very messy situation

Thanks PC
I will keep your user friendly version ( installed in my documents) too
