Maybe you could not embed the video but for sure you may post the youtube page link, and i believe even the video link

that link you tried to post doesn't work

A pity because from the example your tut seems interesting

Could you try again, don't worry about embed the video if any problem just write the page link
(or the video link and then some mods could take care to embed it, if the link is correct ,again that one you posted seems wrong)

How about this:
www.youtube.com Video from : www.youtube.com

It really needs to be watched at 720p in full screen to see the details of what's going on.

I hope I can do this, I really like the looks of the result.
I would really like this as a written tutorial or with spoken instructions in the vid.

I am trying to follow, and it's well done, it's just that I have trouble trying to flip back and forth from the video to gimp...my gmic keeps on top and gets in the way and the video keeps going small every time I switch, it's a juggling act, lol. I have just managed to get to the segmentation part...long way to go! I might be able to finish tomorrow night but now I must go get some real work done!!

I am trying to work on this tutorial...but I have a small screen and even when I run it full screen, much of the text is blurred and I am having a lot of trouble figuring out what to do. Is there a list of the filters in order used and where to find them anywhere, or could one be made? Also the layer modes, I have to guess by position, but don't know if my gimp is ordered exactly like the one on youtube. Also, are watercolor brushes necessary or will splatter brushes work as well on the part where you add the grey splotches?

@2-ton, i use these filters:
1 Enhancement > Smoothing (bilateral)
2. Contours > Segmentation
3. Contours > Edges (layer mode: divide)
4. Then use a layer mask and paint with these brushes:

5. Add a fin art paper texture or simply use G`MIC Patterns > Paper texture

:)

very good result, ek22! It is a really good technique. Once I learn how to do it well, then I can use samj's filter much better.

Whew, I finally finished this. It was quite difficult to follow on my little monitor, (these old eyes are just about ready to fall out) but it's an excellent tutorial! I see that using a dark photo does not work as well as a lighter one, and the hair looks odd because I left too much showing, but now I think I can follow along fairly easily next time. I do think it works much better on a higher resolution pic, too. Especially the part where you make the white lines.
