Some testing of this Recolorize filter has been done by David Revoy. Very interesting results :

Definitely a nice tweak David. Now you can smudge the base (color) layer to do the tweaks necessary for cleanup. Tried it (don't ask; won't share. lol) and it worked like a charm. :)

And you just ninja'ed me. lol

:ninja

See your new example; really like the owl result. :)

This is so amazing I had to play about with the code, so I've "forked" the filter into testing > garagecoder > recolor. It works a bit different (faster I think) and has hue stretching, beware that I'll probably be changing it quite a lot. Also open to criticism/ideas of course :)

I installed G'MIC again (I already had it) but the recolorize isn't listed. I wonder how I can get it.

Did you get the latest G'MIC 1.5.4.0 beta 1.5.3.0?
If so try to refresh the filters. It should be, Colors / Recolorize.

i'm in the same situation of PegLeg44; downloaded the last available installer for windows 32 (g'mic 1.5.3) but recolorize does not show up; trying the refresh i get three errors on files not found on internet, 2 of them pointing to gmic.sourceforge... and 1 pointing to www.greyc.ensicaen.fr...; i see on some previous msg that it should be there since version 1.5.2, so what is wrong and how can we get it? thanks

Ronounours Great!
Hey guys where can i find that recolorize filter? My Gmic is 1.5.0.8 and don't have recolorize in Color. Just replace color.

I would like to test that filter!
I use Win7 , Gimp 2.8.2

Thx all!

P.S: In http://registry.gimp.org/node/13469 says: Latest version of G'MIC is numbered "Release of" G'MIC 1.5.3.0 - January 8, 2013 - 14:20 — dtschump

You need at least G'MIC 1.5.2.0 (so latest 1.5.3.0 is probably your best pick), and an active Internet connexion, so you can refresh your filters and get the Recolorize one.

When I go to the GIMP Plugin Registry it has a download available for version 1.5.0.0

Where can I find 1.5.4

G'MIC 1.5.3 will do the trick, it's the latest stable version. I miss typed the version number. I'm using 1.5.3, 1.5.4 is beta, I believe.

I tried again but no luck. Should I delete the GMIC program in my username/gimp2.8/Plug-ins folder first? I do get a B/W recolorize but not colorize.

I just discovered this fine filter and like it very much! It isn't only good for recoloring black-n-white images, it can also be used to change several colors in a color picture in one step.

You have to use more than one color. Have you done it that way?
