Hi there,
I've followed suggestions from Pat David, and implemented some of the blending mode described in this page :

http://www.venture-ware.com/kevin/codin ... end-modes/

So, now additional blending modes : 'Linear burn', 'Add', 'Substract', 'Linear light', 'Pinglight', 'Hard mix' and 'Vivid light'
are available in the 'Layers / Blend' filter of the G'MIC plug-in for GIMP.
Just refresh your filters to get it.

Hope this can be useful.

By the way, if you have other blending modes which you miss, please let me know (as well as the formula of course :)).

Cool blend modes David; like the hard mix (but not the edge noise) so anisotrophic smoothed those out and created this seamless texture from it. :)

edit:

Added another seamless texture inspired by my original. Think of it as a Hot Air balloon material. Also, inadvertently deleted my original hard mix result so apologize for that. :)

i found a typo: instead of Subtract, it reads Substract

also: it would be extremely helpful if a short description similar to those on the linked page, could be displayed under each layermode in G'MIC
like this:

Sweet blending tools...I love how the shading brings out the highlights as well.

Thanks for noticing the typo Esper. I will correct it.
The plug-in does not allow a change of the interface in the parameter pane when one argument has been modified, so your suggestion is not possible. The best thing to do would be instead to create a new wiki page dedicated to the description of all these blending modes, with a link to it from the filter interface.
