I had a good clear out of mine - including GPS. I'm thinking of making all my own brushes now I'm addicted to it. :)

How do you make a brush that has different variations. Like the pre-installed ones that have the little red plus signs on the bottom right corner?

I'm not sure what that symbol means. Is it an animated tube brush?

The plus sign higlighted with red seems to indicate that the brush has three different iterations or whatever their called. In GIMP 2.8 if you click on one of those kinds of brushes and hold the mouse button, it scrolls through the three different shapes of that same brush.

I'm just wondering if its possible to make your own brush like that.

I attached an animated brush. Open in Gimp and have a look at how it's made with layers. Use it as a template.
Also have a look here.

There is a script ( http://registry.gimp.org/node/583 ) that enables you to set up a rotating brush. Rotation can also be random. I don't know if it works with 2.8 but it can probably be made to do so.

I don't know if this script works with 2.8 but you might find this useful.

Thanks for all the info. I have gone through it and found it to be most helpful. Exporting as an (Animated) .gih gimp brush is exaclty what I was looking for. Also the information on creating a greyscale .gbr file and being able to change color of the brush while using it in RGB mode is worth remembering.

Thanks again, Alan
