Discuss general Gimp topics here

I just watched a video on youtube which uses a GEGL gradient map.
https://youtu.be/XmZjMgNDolU?t=24However this filter is not in my Gimp 2.10.18 "Tools - GEGL Operation" list. In fact i have only 12 filters in my list.

I don't have it either.

It's there in 2.10.14 but in my 2.10.19 it disappeared (like 9 other GEGL filters...);

will i miss anything crucial if i go back to 2.10.14 ?

Same as Ofnuts:
I only know of one specific version which has the long listing. A linux Gimp 2.10.14 from the ubuntu otto-kesselgulasch PPA Everything else I have come across has the shorter listing. It was mentioned by the developers two years ago, seems to have been dropped, not in the listing of GEGL operations

If you are running ubuntu 18.04 or Mint 19 It should still install. That is what I use in kubuntu 18.04 + a Gimp 2.10.18 appimage. They co-exist.

I don't think anyone has posted this but if you don't want the long list and only search for the function (Gradient Map), there is Colors > Map > Gradient Map. It's not exactly the same, but it works for me. You just need to edit the Brush/Pattern/Gradient area of the Toolbox.

Indeed it works well, but with almost no control (chose the gradient) nor visual adjustment

On the other hand, Filters > G'MIC > Black & White > Colorize [with Colormap], is even better (IMHO) than the GEGL Gradient map and it has also more options

I will see if I can rescue these filters.

I failed to build it (unless I rebuild GEGL). If someone gets it alone then hooray.

For a linux binary, you can get a libgegl-0.4 debian package from here:
https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulas ... /+packagesUnpack the deb for possible binary plugins. Example:

can you link the file exactly, I can't find it.

Comes from this package
https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulas ... _amd64.deb (edit-this the 20.04 packge)
and from there gradient-map.so attached

Thank you I got it. I am also tinkering with the GEGL transparency inpaint operation as an alt to resynth and GMIC's inpaint.

I wonder of paint select's raw GEGL operation will compile on 2.10? Not the new brush in Gimp 3 but the raw GEGL Operation behind it.

HSL color goes good with Gradient map

The case is a little different.
Lost Gegl Operations are available in GEGL code.
It is up to the compiler whether to include them - they are turned off by default as experimental (workshop = false).
Workshop contains (list of gegl-0.4.16):
aces-rrt.dll
bayer-matrix.dll
bilateral-filter-fast.dll
connected-components.dll
demosaic-bimedian.dll
demosaic-simple.dll
ditto.dll
domain-transform.dll
enlarge.dll
gcr.dll
gradient-map.dll
hstack.dll
inpaint.dll
integral-image.dll
linear-sinusoid.dll
rawbayer-load.dll
segment-kmeans.dll
selective-hue-saturation.dll
voronoi-diagram.dll
external:
gluas.dll
line-profile.dll
spyrograph.dll
generated:
average.dll
blend-reflect.dll
negation.dll
soft-burn.dll
soft-dodge.dll
subtractive.dll

I do not know if anyone is interested in it, but apart from the information provided, I would like to add that currently (Gegl-0.4.35 in Windows) creates one file gegl-workshop.dll out of 17 source files:
aces-rrt.c
alpha-inpaint.c
band-tune.c
bilateral-filter-fast.c
boxblur.c
boxblur-1d.c
connected-components.c
demosaic-bimedian.c
demosaic-simple.c
ditto.c
gcr.c
gradient-map.c
integral-image.c
rawbayer-load.c
segment-kmeans.c
selective-hue-saturation.c

The Vignette GEGL Operation was more powerful than the one you can use in GEGL Graph. I did not see that on the list at all.

This is a picture of me and my granddaughter I took with my cellphone, and then after running it through GMIC and using the gradient map.

Was this gegl filter different?
