My shameful n00b request for help

I have a friend who managed to close the docked windows on the right side of the screen (Layers, Fonts, and a couple others). How night my friend be able to get them back on the screen? In general, does it matter what side they are on?—because trying to bring them back puts them on the left side, under the primary toolbox. The only thing remaining are three little dots a couple inches from the right side of the screen, marking where dockable windows used to be. Again, asking for a friend who only uses about .01% of the program's full capacity, and is a complete n00b afraid he broke something.
