Installing G'Mic in Gimp 2.10.36 and Gimp 2.99.18

Thu Apr 04, 2024 6:12 am

I have both Gimp 2.10.36 and Gimp 2.99.18 installed on the same computer. G'Mic was installed in the 2.10.36 version before I installed the 2.99.18 version. So I have both Gimp versions installed. My problem is I tried to install the G'Mic plug-in to the 2.99.18 version but it wasn't installed when I ran the installation exe file for G"Mic so I only have it in the old version of Gimp and not the new version. The installation file appears to run normally but when I check in Gimp, it is not there. How can I install G'Mic into the newer version of Gimp? Is there a way I can install it in the new version? I tried copying the plug-in files into the plug-in folder for Gimp 2.99.18 but to no avail.

I am on 2.99.19 and I have no clue how to get GMIC working. My guess is it is GMIC's team needing to fix something for newer Gimp.

For now, the only available version of G'MIC for Gimp-2.99.xx is provided by Samj

The developers are probably waiting till version 3 of Gimp comes out before doing GMIC for it. After all vs 2.99 is a preview of 3. You could always have a stand alone version of GMIC or wait until next month
