But, like a boss, I delegate. You took care of it for me Esper, and that's what like a boss is all about. +3 boss level.

cool ChrisF !

the barcode is a really clever idea :bigthup

do you check adaptive supersamling when you make your gradient ?
makes them super smooth !

Thanks, the hint is very good. I had never use it before... :coolthup

They are very impressive, Chris F :bigthup
Gimp get very interesting when you look beyond the filters and get into the nuts and bolts!

Adaptive supersampling? I do not see that option in my gradient editor (windows 7 X64 Gimp 2.6.11)
Is it available in later versions?

its not in the editor, its in the dialogue

I think it is useful for someone, more steps inside the EAN code gradients.
Good for creating rays (conical shape).

@odinbc: yes , it is right. I use GIMP since 2005 and i never learn out.

Re: [Challenge] make a gradient

Thanks Esper, I thought you were referring to adaptive sampling in the creation process because I still have trouble creating a nice gradient when I introduce another colour between the two colours. In other words any two colour gradient (short or long) produces a nice gradient but when I use a third or more colours I get banding. I can diminish the banding by introducing more segments but it is still extremely difficult to eliminate banding completely especially on shorter gradients. Has anyone found a way of getting a perfect gradient with more than two colours? BTW the effect is more visible at higher resolution monitors. I can see it very clearly on my LG 1920 X1080 monitor but is almost invisible on my older lower resolution monitor Viewsonic 1280 X 1024 resolution.

yes, what you call banding is a problem
have you tried the Blending Function For Segment Submenu ?

Re: [Challenge] make a gradient

Hi Esper , Yes I played with that a couple of days ago. Also the help section on the gradient tool is very good. The different modes change the blend rates in the colour segment. But for all intent and purposes adding more segments and controlling the blending is probably more accurate. I do not understand the reason for it.
EDIT Additional text Using the shift-click to make adjacent segments active and then using the Blend Endpoint Colours option does help somewhat but also changes the actual gradient in that area so you are creating another problem.

Some lovely gradients being created, here is another, at first glance might look a bit boring but try duplicating the blended layer and rotating it then changing layer mode and opacity. Finally make a new layer on top and fill with desired colour then set layer mode to colour.
