Hi everyone. I'm running GIMP 2.8.14 on an iMac OS 10.10.4. I just got the upgrade a week ago. I'm having trouble however. I created a flyer and want to copy just the header from that flyer and paste it into another, smaller, document so I can use it on our web site. I use to use the rectangle select tool, select the areas I wanted to copy and it was that easy. Now I can't seem to copy a selected area and paste it to another window. Says there is nothing on the clipboard. I often use this function when creating flyers, postcards, etc for big events.

Can someone help me?

Is Select>None available when you copy or is it grayed out?

Or maybe you are copying with the wrong layer active?

Copy is not grayed out, it is an option, but the message I get is similar to there is nothing on the clipboard to to paste.

In the past, anything selected by the rectangle tool would be copied, even through multiple layers. I may try to merge the layers and copy what I need. This is quite a pain.

Try using "Edit->Copy Visible" instead.
