I noticed something a little peculiar today. I decided to re-compile the ABR.c plug-in to load Photo Shop brush files in layers in GIMP. Well after i compiled the plug-in and added it to my plug-ins folder i restarted GIMP and GIMP loaded and looked fine until i tried to open any file. Then it crashed. No error just crashed. So i removed all the rc files and restarted. GIMP crashed again. So i re installed GIMP and GIMP still crashed. So i decided to go systematically by removing plug-ins first. Still a crash. The only thing left were brushes, patterns, and scripts in my user folders so i removed the patterns except the ones i need to run my own scripts. GIMP ran fine. I reloaded all my other rc files and what not back into GIMP and everything ran fine. I re loaded all the pattern files and GIMP crashed.
So thinking well this all started with ABR.exe i reloaded it back into the plug-ins folder. GIMP ran and loaded the abr file perfectly. SO my conclusion is that not all pattern files work with GIMP
AND my newly compiled version of ABR loader does work so i attached it here.



By the way i am using this executable in GIMP-2.8.16 64 bit.

I thought .abr support was built in to GIMP 2.8x?

It is but the built in adaptability only opens certain ones. This plug-in should open MOST Adobe ABR files.

I should also mention that you can load multiple layers from the abr file and save the ones you want as gbr files and toss the rest.
