I already know there's a perspective clone option. Does anyone know if the GIMP developers are working on a perspective brush? Could help me a lot with my perspective renders. :)

I have never used it but what does the perspective dynamic do?

Looks to be similar to 'track direction' :(

Depends what lylejk means by a 'Perspective' brush. Is it a 3D brush?

As an example, dug out of the archive an old ZBrush and in a VM it looks like this:

On-the-fly lighting effects and bump mapping. Could this be done in Gimp? Maybe, but probably have to ask a developer and they are spread very thin, with plenty other features to implement.

OK, cancel the 3D brush, although it would be nice ;)

A brush that resizes according to the "Y" value of the canvas
small for low values, increasing as you drop down the canvas.

That might be possible

:ninja

I wonder if you could just create a brush to mimic the effect of 3D?

I'm curious as to how a brush can mimic effects that are already pre-determined in a brush file. Are you really suggesting a 3D dynamic type of feature where the brush can be set to render on the fly? That would be cool to see.

IMO it's easier to join Lyle as user-requestor and Tin as coder to create a small filter able to fill a selection with a brush applying a perspective look ("famous" Lyle's textures...)

I've been trying to create one to mimic a bumped shape. But no joy. :ninja

Spot on to what I am referring too. I tried to clone object then perspective clone, but that didn't work. :)

Tin still missing from this thread....I'm sure he can write a nice filter to do it using any normal brush.

so you want to fill a selection with brush and set brush size based on Y value?

Well, the original request from Lyle was to have a brush which adjust itself, this is my "revised" indication: to have a brush (any), an image with a selection (or even without, just use the whole drawable in this case) and fill it with the brush having different "perspective" depending on the y value.
Input parameter could be the ratio desired between the top most and the bottom most line....

...something like Rich shows in his image, but with the possibility of overlapping lines, like the famous Lyle's textures he from time to time shows us...

This is Gimp 2.9 and the devs must have had some request, but looks like the opposite of Lylejk's wish :)

With brush parameters set, a brush will resize according to the canvas zoom value.

Not automatic but you can paint and acheive a perspective effect by zooming in as you paint.
