Yes I am trying to align text in the middle of a picture. I'm so confused I use the alignment tool but it only moves the text very little. I will click the align middle of target and it moves down very little. I can see it move but it does not move to the middle of the picture at all. I don't know what's wrong. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Auto-crop the text layer,
then try using the Alignment Tool again.

The align tool works using the layer borders and doesn't consider the layer contents.

Great you got your answer. Thanks for asking. I was confused by that tool too. What I normally do is have the text layer the size of the picture and use left, centre, right justify and then move it to where I need it.
