About 4 days ago, I tried to resize an image layer. The entire image (all layers) tried to resize at once.

I couldn't figure it out so I uninstalled Gimp and reinstalled it thinking I'd done something wonky with configurations I couldn't figure out.

Now, I have found out about floating layers, so that's resolved. However, now, when I try to resize a layer, telling it to get smaller, it gets bigger!

The scale numbers go down while I am pressing the down-arrow beside the parameters. But, when I release the button, the scale actually goes up and increases in size.

What am I doing wrong? I am not doing anything differently than I did 5 days ago, but the responses by Gimp are opposite what I want for scaling.

Gimp 2.10.22.

Thank you.

Not sure what you are talking about, but here is the correct way to scale a layer using the layer scaling tool.
