@Esper,

I didn't use a texture on the text.
It's a combination of color "Curves" and the "Posterize" effect on the 3-D layer created by the 3-D script.
interesting, thanks for the info

i will try that some time

Yes your right, I didn't see your original massage.
It's for your own privet use, is this correct? If so... sure you can use them.
All I ask is that you don't redistribute them as your own images, or anything like that.
I made them strictly for personal/privet use, not to be sold or redistributed in any way.
As long as you agree to this you can freely use them.
Thanks for having the decency to ask, I really appreciate this. :bigthup

No not only private use , it is distributed https://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-packagers/files/
Even if as now the documentation (and so all credits ) is missing, (but coming soon )

Obviously i would in case just use 1 and i will credit, but the credit will be a endless list (because the many, many added script, plugin, brush, gradients and so on ) not sure how many will go thought such huge list, that anyway is still to be done.
(it is also my bigger nightmare how to automatize the creation of that list with referral links..will be not also awful but also impossible have to do all manually, it would take eons )

@PhotoComix,

If that's the case then you have my permission to us whatever GIMP splash screen I made for this distribution.

@alc59,

Looks cool, although it could use a little refinement. I also like the frame of the image as well.
Nice concept! :bigthup

oh, i have that installed as well

especially like how you used textures on the 3D extrusion

just had another look at the pictures with the bubbles, that awesome as well, minus the jagged edges at the text

i tried to add some bubbles as a background to a text in a sprayer style yesterday, but couldnt get it right
two pictures with the style im talking about, in case you are curious what it looks like

@Esper,

I could try my hand at adding the bubbles to you image for you. If this is something your interested in?
I could make the bubbles look like what's on the album/record sleeve.

For the last 5-6 month I've been seeing this image every time I would launch my GIMP.

Used to like it. Not anymore. Now want more colors.
This is my new splash.

I was making this photo collage and at some point got the idea of making it a splash image.

And....what's in your wallet?

If you liked the idea, Odin, where is your splash! :hoh

That was the only idea here - everyone shares his/her GIMPmade splashes. :)

k1tesseraena: nice job on that splash screen! i remember when you posted that last one, i couldn't look at it for long because the weird tentacle-like things reminded me of spider's legs - i could never have used a splash screen like that! Image
esper: oh yes, wallace made such fantastic splash screens! maybe he will come back if the gc crowd invades his deviantartpage? btw, where would the re-post police suggest that we post our splash screens - old thread or this thread?

I never changed the default splash, but now I set this one, provisionally, I'm thinking eliminate the grid and add the credits (carved).

jamac4k: but the grid looks cool, why do have to take it away? couldn't you just hack some parts of it away where you have the text? or is that what you meant?
esper: i think you've got some things wrong: the gimp chat crowd is here to keep me entertained - not the other way around ;)
ha!!! 1000 posts in 6 m - 15 d, i just broke your record by fifteen days! Image

anyway, here's my splash screen - it's the only one i've ever made and probably the only one i'll ever make. i usually customize and personalize anything just for the sake of it, but i actually like the paintbrush picture with the nice warm colours in the default 2.8 splash (really, k1te, what's sad about that one?), so i only use my own when i want to impress friends with my geek factor (most of them think it must be an extremely advanced technical process to replace a splash screen and i don't tell them they're wrong).
