I'm trying to recreate an old script-fu I had made that no longer works in modern Gimp.
Its sort of like the plastic wrap filter from Photoshop.

I've had little luck so far but its got some artifacts.
Perhaps the neon filter has changed a bit.

I'll try to post the steps once I get it figured out.

Good luck with this; it was one of my favourites!

@vitforlinux
Ahh, well that's closer. The plastiwrap210.scm is closer, and the one that merges all layers is a lot more like the Photoshop plug.
But my problem with it was it merged the effect. I think I can work with that though.
Thanks!

maybe you will like the one in G'MIC Filters > G'MIC > Light & Shadow > Relief Light
If you don't have G'MIC as plug-in it's over there > https://gmic.eu

Yeah, plus it gives you quite a bit more options.

I recreated the "wrap_effect.scm iccii Elsamuko into a python plugin and later MareroQ added the the Preview the the plugin.
You can download it from https://www.gimpscripts.net/2021/03/pocholos.html

Oh yes, of course. I used to use it a lot.

My bevel plugin on the overlay blend mode makes something like plastic wrap

I have a competing plugin that uses an algorithm similar to my bevel filter, but it does more to optimize a plastic effect, such as smoothing and blurring the original image below. There are also other things that are difficult to explain that modify the bevel algorithm to make it better at making plastic wrap.

Download for Linux and windows here.

Currently plastic internally uses the blend mode "hard light" on its emboss. But in the future I could give it a blend mode switcher for "hard light" "soft light" "overlay" "grain merge' and more. Changing the GEGL blend mode switcher that all GEGL filters have will not have the same effect. As that is blending everything. An internal blend mode switcher would only blend the emboss filter and nothing else.
