Is there a scratchpad in GIMP?
A scratchpad where I can type in bits of info like "where to find drop shadow etc." and steps to do whatever. Because I keep forgetting steps and "what is where"...and have to open another program that I have written up the instructions...but would rather pull up a GIMP Scratchpad.
If not it would be very helpful to have a scratchpad built into GIMP that stores the info I have typed into it.

I've never come across one but it's not a bad idea. I've got Flashnote on my computer which sits in the system tray for easy access. If you're interested, you can get it here. http://softvoile.com/flashnote/

That isn't a bad idea.I wonder if something could be scripted to go into the Help menu?

Would be relativity easy wouldn't you think? They already have something that would be easy to alter. The text popup would be an easy jump off point.

Ya something based off of the text module would work fine. it would be 90 percent of the coding!

I've been thinking, why not use Gimp itself.
Open a new image type your note and save it as "notes.xcf" or whatever you deem appropriate.
When you want to add something open a new layer, name it according to the subject, enter text and save.
So when you want to consult your notes you open it in Gimp and use shift+eye of the layer that you want to read.
No idea how practical this would be,never done it.
Hope it's clear what I mean.
Gerard.

It is clear and seems like a great idea. Instead of having all these folders, they would be layers. The only downside is that it is pretty hard to write a whole paragraph of text, or maybe not, I guess a person would have to try it first to see
