I shure would like to edit some of the settings of custome made brushes in GIMP 2.8.

Does anybody know how to enable the editing of these features like Radius, Spikes and Hardness?

At the bottom right Brushes dialog, use the Edit Brush button or the New Brush button. If you don't see the bottom right Brushes dialog, use Windows, Dockable Dialogs to open it.

ed.,
I forgot the duplicate part. Duplicate first, then edit.

Gimp 2.8.20 Windows 10
I created a new brush, saved it as a .gbr. and then opened a new file.
I then tried to edit by first duplicating than clicking on edit the brush (in lower right).
I am not able to change anything.

I believe the sliders such as:
Radius,
Spikes,
Hardness,
Aspect ratio and Angle.
Only work with some built-in GIMP brushes,
or brushes that have the file extension of,
.vbr.

The .vbr format is used for parametric brushes,
i. e.,
brushes created using the Brush Editor.
There is really no other meaningful way of obtaining files in this format.

Use the link below,
for the GIMP Documentation on .vbr format.

https://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-using-brushes.html

These sliders don't work on custom brushes.

You can edit any brush by opening it as an image. Animated brushes will open as layers. You can then edit what you want and save as a new name brush.

I take that back you cannot export GIMP brushes with a new name "Permission Denied" =)
I was able to rename and save user created animated gih and gbr brush types however.
