Welcome Miss Bunny!
2-ton I asked myself the same question and Molly tagged the same thread I was going to last night but decided not to. Note: I be trolling the forum late late late at night!
Cause somebody wanted to actually print images to adhere to physical bottle caps and then somebody came up with a fairly realistic looking cap. To bad it couldn't be angled .. or maybe it can!
Regards less .. welcome Bunny you ask and you'll get a whole bunch of answers!

Inkscape has a real cool tutorial on creating a bottle cap
here too.
Inkscape is a very nice (like Adobe Illustrator), free vector art program that goes perfectly with Gimp.

Sorry for the belated welcome. Was going to do so earlier and got on to other distractions. Many ways to skin a cat with GIMP. If you have an example of a bottle cap that you are trying to emulate, please pass on a link; many here will be quite willing to help you on your quest Christine. Just wish you didn't feel the need to purchase a template (from your other post), but if it helps to automate your flow, then the better.

I was new to gimp & had nooo clue how to even attempt anything like this. So I was suckered, LOL.
Only issue is, once its made, thats it, no changing it. Ive seen where people change the caps within minutes. What are they doing??
I'll find a link.
Thank you Lyle

I don't know much about bottlecaps and how they should be done, but I think it would really help if you went through AlexStandiford's beginner tutorials, and it would really help us to be able to describe how to do stuff.
http://gimpedblog.blogspot.com/Of course, it would be great to see lesson 1 and 2, but lesson 3 is how to utilize layers, and I think that will help you a lot with making these designs.
