Greetings

I have been using GIMP for a couple months now. Storing old photo's on HD and DVD. Some are very old 30+ years. I have managed to save all so far.

I have been watching various tutorials and reading any text I can get hold of. Much to learn. Some day I hope to be comfortable with layers, layer masks, and paths.

You came to the right place to learn all those things, so just ask away.

Charlie, I love your super-shiny text. Can you give a brief run-down on how you accomplished that?

I used the BRL script, font is 'half elvin' then I used g'mic for the 3D drop shadow and finished it off with Graechan's Star Effect script set on dodge :) Oh! the gradient I used was Met10 from MareroQ's post here http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7397

Thanks for the info! I have to learn how to use the star effect, then I will be all set.
