hi everyone! so glad to have found this forum! was looking for help online with trying to accomplish something and found it. I am new to using Gimp and would like to use it much more. I know there is a lot of features which I am yet aware of how to use, so I hope you all can help me get where I need to be...
I currently make custom shirts, stickers, and cups with vinyl and sublimation. I recently learned how to place an image within text using Gimp from a youtube tutorial. I am currently looking for help with a similar task. I would like to know how to place an image behind another and see it through selected areas. I am attempting to create an image much like a torn shirt with an image behind it (under the tear/rip). any help is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to helping anyone I can as well!

thank you in advance!!

Welcome to Gimp Chat! :)
If you are familiar with "Layer Masks" you can use a mask on the upper or top layer (which i assume will be your t-shirt tears layer) layers/add layer mask ,select the mask on the layer and paint black in areas you want transparency and white where you do not.Your image under the tears should be your bottom layer.
Hope that helps.

You can welcome anyone you like. :) It doesn't matter if you have been here 1 hour or 1 day.
