File formats of brushes haven't changed, so yes — they will work.

Does anyone know if sorting by category is just for the brushes? Or does it also apply to other stuff, like fonts? Also curious how this will affect the startup time.

How does the tagging work? Are the subdirectory names turned into tags automatically?

so can this be dumped into any version of Gimp? Also, I have too many brushes that I never use...I tried to drag them into the trashcan on the tools page but the trash is greyed out. If I just go into files, I cannot see what the brush looks like, and it would take forever to go back and forth looking at each one and then going into files to delete. Is there and "easy button" for this?

they may work on 2.7 but if Ramon and Guillemo did also some preset the preset may not works on 2.6 but the brush should be backward compatible

but i will like know more about the tagging
