Click below Z; I've used Photo-Freeware a lot for several years now so it's legit and the link is one I feel comfortable sharing (not an uploaded exe that I have stored locally). Both the download and my stored file are exactly the same size so all should be kosher. :)

I edited my respond earlier. However, just wanted to reiterate, that I have updated the builds to account for the bug filed by Lyle and described by Rod.

And about this Portable version, it include the various fixes ?
Or is possible to do by replacing some files ?

PC, Simply install the current build on top of the portable. It should replace all the necessary DLLs.

Bonjour,

Is it reasonable to update the test version?
If so, I will make changes in one or two days (There is also the implementation of Python for improvement).

Bonjour,

I'll create a new version and look at the operational problems of Python on USB key (For now it works but I don't like the way to run Python).

@PhotoComix
To operate your "extras" in the test version (Partha) here is what to do:
- Include the directory \PhotoComix
- Include the file PhotoComix.ini
- Include files Start_Gimp_Friendly*.bat

Bonjour,

Update (2012-05-20) performed.
I am not satisfied with this version: Python on USB stick still has minor problems.
I stop this experience with Gimp 2.8.0
I would maybe test with Gimp 2.8.1

@PhotoComix
I do not compile Gimp.
Which is compiled by me:
- CamoTruck
- GMIC

I believe this test release is not sufficiently developed. He is perhaps best not to use it.

In my opinion there is no better version.
Partha+SF (Gimp-2.8-64bit-Partha+SF) version is updated.
With the release of SourceForge (gimp_2_8-Windows_Friendly-64bit-s), Python seems to work better on a USB key (Python console).

Just installed Gimp-2.8-64bit-Partha+SF. on my HD.

I'd like to have a .gimp-2.8 folder in my user folder ("Tony")

Can I do that?

Bonjour,

@mechatherium

You can create a .bat file (see the contents at the end of the message).

This file should be placed in the directory where is located " maringouin.exe "

The language used in Gimp will be the language of the O.S.

Here are the contents of this file:

start maringouin_2_8.exe demarrer_gimp langue_0 standard
exit

Bonjour,

There is a bug on the utility "maringouin.exe" :
Using the standard user folder, choice other languages do not work.

You can download the file and replace "maringouin.exe" :
http://www.aljacom.com/~gimp/maringouin_2_8-06.zip
(255 727 octets)

Here are some sample files ".bat" to use the standard user folder and use other languages in Gimp:

French
start maringouin_2_8.exe demarrer_gimp langue_1 standard
exit

English
start maringouin_2_8.exe demarrer_gimp langue_2 standard
exit

German
start maringouin_2_8.exe demarrer_gimp langue_3 standard
exit

Italian
start maringouin_2_8.exe demarrer_gimp langue_4 standard
exit

Dutch
start maringouin_2_8.exe demarrer_gimp langue_5 standard
exit

Spanish
start maringouin_2_8.exe demarrer_gimp langue_6 standard
exit

Merci.

But will it create the standard folder or will I have to do that myself?

Bonjour,

@mechatherium
It will automatically create the user directory if it does not exist.

I installed and ran the .bat. Works great! Had to move the extras (plugins, scripts) to my .gimp-2.8 directory to get them back, but they work so far.

One last question: Do I need to do anything with the /32 folder? How would I install more 32-bit plugins?
