Can't seem to run G'mic on Gimp 2.10 via appimage.

Quote:
Could not execute plug-in "gmic_gimp_qt"
(/home/racer/.config/GIMP-AppImage/2.10/plug-ins/gmic_gimp_qt)
because it uses an obsolete version of the plug-in protocol.

The appimage that I linked to Runs fine with the included GMIC on Bodho 4.5 x64. If you are having a problem, report it here:

Well the included G'mic wont run on my system. Linux Mint Cinnamon x64, which is based on Ubunto 16.04. In fact, a vast majority of all my plugins and scripts won't work either. I assume they need to be updated, though that's doubtful to happen.

I like version 2.10 a lot, but I'll have to keep v 2.8.16 along side for now.

As memory serves me correctly, when I installed 2.8.0, there were lots of bugs and compatibility issues with Script-fus that ran perfectly fine in 2.6x. Me thinks I'll wait until 2.10.2. lolol

:)

Hello Doron,
I liked the icon theme you are using!
Can you please tell me where I can find it.
Thanks
Une

That appimage series, while aimed at being as universal as possible, has never been 100% on my Kubuntu 16.04 Added plugins either compiled or python either fail or are not recognised.

It is not a question of updating them, you would expect Ofnuts python scripts to work, there is something weird with the appimage.

I keep my own appimage, assembled using the ppa https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulas ... gimp-edge/ and based on 'buntu 16.04 However that is frozen at 2.9.9 (Dec 2017) for 'buntu 16.x

Gimp code is using lots of updated packages these days. Hopefully there will be updates to 'buntu 16.04 in the future but I am not counting on it.

Installed (Windows-64).
If someone likes to have some of my python plug-ins ported, pls tell me here, I'm ready to do that.
Those ported to 2.9.9 run w/o error messages on 2.10-rc1.

Yes dinasset, your scripts are the only ones that work on my gimp 2.10 RC1. I wouldn't mind if you ported BevelSelectedArea filter for one.

Which filter are you referring to?
I don't remember one called BevelSelectedArea.

Got my G'mic problem in the appimage sorted out. Apparently it copied over my version of G'mic when I first ran the Gimp 2.10 appimage. Deleting it from my .config/AppImage/~ folder fixed the problem.

Now If someone could make BevelReflectLogo and Extrude scripts work in Gimp 2.10, that would be great....

Linux MLBevelReflect. It will work, but probably not with that appimage.

This in Kubuntu 16.04, Gimp 2.9.9 and ML-bevel-reflect: https://i.imgur.com/bHIsIfI.jpg
Scripts for extrusion? Some work / some do not: An old script-fu still gets there: https://i.imgur.com/rXKg9Ts.jpg

Neither of those scripts work in this appimage. Maybe the full stable version of Gimp 2.10 will work when it is released. Hopefully it will.

Playing around with the ToneMap filters. They are very slow, but give good results.
