The gimp.org download of gimp 2.10.10 for Windows works for me just fine. I downloaded it directly from the site.

Dare I install this version? Guts telling to wait a few more days (well actually a few more weeks if I were honest with you). lololol

Haven't really played much except post a few image enhancements at FredMiranda's site. Still not feeling really creative of late; I guess it's because I'm now a year older. lolol

Anyway, I ask the guinea pigs to tell me how they like it after they've worked with the new update a few minutes. Maybe I can too get convinced to update.

Seems to be fine Lyle. I installed the 64 bit version after i found it. Believe me... it wasn't there. LOL. Anyways PSPI still loaded Alien Skin and Impressionist so i'm good here.

Anyone here is using gimp on window 10 ?

So far all the gimp 2.10.x serie on my window 10 system have had that small but very noticable lag/floaty/delay/slow/whateveritisthatfeelsjustwrong that simply made me uninstall it every time and go back to very fast and good performing 2.8.22 in which everything was reacting immediately to my commands.

Still very annoying to me as i really wanted to use the new 2.10.x features (symmetry tool, mypaint brushes etc), but it was frustrating to work in such bad performance condition.

After so many time i was just wondering if Gimp 2.10.x was just a lost cause on window 10 (as from the few i gathered those problems aren't affecting 2.10.x on linux OS) and i would just have to stick with good old 2.8.22, not too sad though as i had no such problem with Krita or Firealpaca on my system that were both very fast and performing.

So without much hope i downloaded and installed 2.10.10 for a last test before turning the "modern" gimp page definitively, noticed that still can't have it installed alongside 2.8.22 as it still insist in installing itself in the same directory without me being able to change it this time in the customise install option (2.8.x allowed you), but whatever i would just have again to reinstall everything as i'm used to this annoyance and still have always my 2.8x plugins backups.

And wow, wow wow, the improvement is noticable on my system
It was really a surprise to me, so much that i don't think i can notice a difference now when painting between this 2.10.10 and good old trustable 2.8.22

I have yet to test every gimp functions to see if this very noticable speed improvement is to more than just for the brushes, but i have such a big smile on my face to be able to use symmetry and mypaint in gimp
Sure my old 2.8.22 32bits plugins will never work with this version of gimp, but at tha point i'm not yet caring as the surprise of seeing good performance took over

I don't know who is responsible of this "magic improvement" on performance on my window 10 setup, but huge huge thank you !

Actually they should work. If not please post errors why they do not.

So before i break my gimp install with bunch of errors during loading and have to reinstall again, just to be clear :

Yes; GIMP 64-bit has backwards compatibility with 32-bit GIMP plugins built in, but sometimes those plugins need to be re-compiled (not always). If you have a 64-bit OS, Brogun, you should use 64-bit GIMP.

I always thought gimp couldn't mix between 64bits and 32bits when it came to plugins and the main program, that was why i always installed the 32bits version of old 2.8.x (as all the plugins i had were 32bits)

Will have to give a test then wih them on my 64bits 2.10.10.

Just installed 2.10.10 & all my customizing appears as it did in 2.10.8....so far so good... ...

As I was installing .10, I noticed that there was a screen to set file associations for Gimp (I used the Customize install)....I set a couple (.pspimage was a choice) & would like to view that file association screen again, but I can't seem to find it in Gimp...I thought it would be under Preferences but can't find it there...

Suggestions where to look?

On my old computer, I do not have the option of installing GIMP version higher than 2.10.5,
However, I have a question about GIMP 2.10.10:

Has anyone tried to use the MSC Python with this version (and not the included GCC) or information that this operating error has been fixed?

Well finally broke down and installed the update. No issues so far, so I say a success.
