I downloaded it yesterday. However, both the procedure browser and the plugin browser crash when trying to access them. Those are the only bugs I've found in this version. I'm using Windows 10.

36 versions now of GIMP; why? Why isn't 3.x released already? Crazy. No other version of GIMP came close to having so many releases. Until otherwise convinced, keeping 2.10.34. Thanks for sharing your experience, Mackenzie. :)

You're welcome Lyle. The plugin and procedure browsers began crashing for me a few days before gimp 2.10.36 came out but it still crashes for me in gimp 2.10.36 and I'm using windows 10.

Just updated my kubuntu 22.04 to Gimp 2.10.36 using the Panda Jim PPA and so far all seems ok. Still using Tasmania appimage for python.

The problem is Windows... like many other times.

One report about the gmic plugin here: https://discuss.pixls.us/t/problem-with-g-mic

then there is the mackenzieh problem. I recall from the past she has a monster amount of scripts and plugins installed, maybe this has changed. Usually when Gimp was working and now no longer works I look at what I installed to break Gimp.

The usual dumb luck of beginners who have only been using Linux for 20 years.

Yes, it is a Windows thing.

Not a problem with most linux disro's Use a pre-made package or not difficult to compile from source.

Rich2005, I still have a lot of scripts and plugins installed and they work. The only things that don't for me, are the plugin and procedure browsers. That is my only complaint. Why is it only Windows systems having the problem? IF it is only Windows systems facing this problem, where is the remedy for it? I'm using Windows 10.

Gimp 2.10.36 here is on win 11, recently updated... I never use Windows.
Plug-ins and procedure browsers works.

I don't use Windows 11.

No problem here either with Gimp 2.10.36 PPA. Are you saying you have a Gimp version 2.10.36 appimage? If so, where did you find it?

Yes indeed, he does have also the 2.99.16 (dev) as an appimage :yes

Yes that's the one nelo :bigthup
Thanks a lot to be faster than me :tyspin

For the python support, Tas_mania made an appimage launcher > https://github.com/TasMania17/Gimp-Appi ... -for-Linux which will launch your GIMP with python support
Good to know > for non Ubuntu distro like MX Linux, you need to install "sudo apt install fuse-overlayfs" or the Tas_mania's appimage will not launch

Good to know 2: I did ask Panda Jim if he can also update his PPA for Ubuntu 20.04, he did it today (thank you so very much Ji m),
thus just launch your software updater :yes

Just got the 2.10.36 update from the Panda Jim repository for Ubuntu 20.04 - everything appears to work OK including all my Python 2.7* plug-ins.

So if this is the next to last version of Gimp 2.10 you can always use this version to test my GEGL plugins if they ever break in later Gimp 3. Or you could use the first release of Gimp 3 as they obviously won't break by then.

For me, after a long hiatus with illness, I am re-learning GIMP again...I didnt really forget what I had but, with so many new versions its a bit like re-learning the whole thing again...some things no longer available and I search for new things all the time...I think its an exciting time in a way.. I am a serial Mac user and so far after downloading the latest version, I havent noticed any actual problems..and I am using an iMac with an M1 chip updated early this week to Sonoma and so far so good with the latest version of GIMP as well....further report will come if I notice any real problems.

No crashes for me yet and the things I have used (that I normally use) all work fine. I downloaded it a week ago

Post subject:  Re: GIMP 2.10.36 Released

I am going to endorse the final version of Gimp 2.10x as a testing ground for my GEGL plugins if things ever break in Gimp 2.99+ (including Gimp 3) as they already broke on image uploads in Gimp 2.99, and there is no way of fixing that.
