Looks like there are still some issues with the Official Installer.

We have released an updated 2.8.14 installer (http) for Microsoft Windows. This one fixes the crash on window resize and the missing icons bugs - all by updating the included GTK+ library to 2.24.24.

Still unsolved are the missing spacing character in the zoom drop down and the disappearing background on high zooms (updating the Pango and Cairo libraries that are didn't change anything there), investigations continue.

Please continue to report bugs, we can't fix what we don't know about.

Quote:
GIMP 2.8.14 has been released. This is a bugfix release in the stable 2.8 series, no new features were added.

Yesterday's 2.8.12 release had broken library versioning, please don't distribute any binaries of 2.8.12!

For a complete list of changes since 2.8.12 please see the "Changes" section below. Also see the release notes of the 2.8 series at http://www.gimp.org/release-notes/gimp-2.8.html

Overview of Changes from GIMP 2.8.12 to GIMP 2.8.14
===================================================

General:

- Fix libtool versioning (forgot to bump gimp_interface_age)

Overview of Changes from GIMP 2.8.10 to GIMP 2.8.12/14
===================================

Core:
- OSX: Fix migration code for old GIMP directories
- Fix brush sizes when used from plug-ins
- Windows: Allow to Explorer-open files with UTF-8 characters in the filename
- Make XCF loading more robust against broken files

GUI:
- Make sure the widget direction matches the GUI language
- Remove the option to disable the warning when closing a modified image
- Fix canvas overlay widgets (like the text options) for tablets
- Make DND work between images in one dockable

Libgimp:
- Make gimp_image_get_name() return the string used for the image title

Plug-ins:
- Make script-fu-server more secure by listening to 127.0.0.1 by default and add a warning about changing that IP. This breaks the procedure's API, but for security reasons.

- Add Jenkins tutorial
- Documentation updates
- Bug fixes
- Translation updates

Windows builds should be available tonight. I haven't heard yet on the MacOS builds.

I'm glad that dragon drop between image tabs is now working. I may start using single window mode more (it is amazing how accustomed one becomes to having a feature).

D&d between image tabs has been working in 2.8.10 (well, at least in Windows version, it has).
Did you mean layers d&d over image tab is working in 2.8.12?
Mitch said this feature won't be available till 2.10 but it was almost 2 years ago.

After it's been successfully compiled, the new GIMP update will be installed automatically when you update Fedora (unless you skip or block it).

Unfortunately, GIMP 2.8.12 failed to compile on koji (Fedora's build system). I'm not sure what the problem was but it failed to compile across all supported Fedora versions. See here. The red dash on the right column denotes a failed compile attempt.

I have not tried to compile myself but I'll give it a shot later on today.

Thank you Tux, I am sure it will be fixed very soon knowing how perfect Fedora runs 99.99999999 percent of the time

There may be a glitch in this release so if you haven't updated yet then you might want to hold off for a little while.

If you've already installed 2.8.12 then you may as well leave it until the fix is released. As I understand the problem, it will only affect the compiling of plug-ins using gimptool; plug-ins that have already been compiled should be fine.

EDIT: 2.8.14 released. See first post by GNUtux.

Looks like GIMP 2.8.12 was broken and GIMP 2.8.14 has now been released.

See first post for details.

Molly, GIMP 2.8.14 compiled clean on my Fedora 20 install.

Image

It also compiled across all current Fedora versions so it should appear in the update repos soon.

There were several changes made to the script-fu plug-in, so I suppose I'll need to create a new patch for the Script-fu scrolling interface. Version 1.0 of the scrolling interface works but it's missing the new code included GIMP 2.8.14.
